Checked into MGM Grand at the Airport in Las Vegas. A young man from Mexico helped me. I had reserved a Grand Tower room w/ two double beds. He told me I would be on the 19th floor. I had a $20 palmed in my hand, I turned my hand around, showed him the $20 and asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available. He said "of course there is". I was upgraded to a Bungalow Suite.

Went to Vegas for the first time last weekend and the guys at work will telling me about the 20 dollar trick. When we arrived at the Excalibur I figured I would give it a shot I asked the agent who just started the day if she had any upgrades I made sure my $20 bill was stick out she did not see it at first she said the upgrade would be 10 dollars extra then she saw the money and she said I can you a deluxe room upgrade with a sitting area but then she said wait I have a room with a view, so we took the took the room with a view. Wow what a view we had we were on the 20th floor facing the NY NY rollercoaster and at night you could see the top of the fountain from the Bellagio hotel. We had a great time I will do the 20 dollar trick again It really does work.

I booked my week trip through America West vacations and thus I got a real "bare bones" deal. I was booked to stay at the Fitzgerald Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. I was familiar with the proper technique of the $20 trick, but because I was staying an entire week, I thought an extra $15 bucks a day for a suite would warrant it. In addition, I have some buddies coming to visit me and thus they would help chip in. I had indicated to the front desk person, that I would love to get an upgrade if were possible while discreetly showing a $100 bill. Now, the staff member was new and I am not sure whether she understood what I was getting at. But, she actually tried to see if there was any way to upgrade me. No luck!!!!! She said to try later or perhaps the next day. I came back a few hours later and tried it with a another person and I purposely told him that I've got a hundred reasons why I would love to get a nice suite. Once again, they seemed dumbfounded! Perhaps the were not used to this type of suggestion at this property. Oh well..... it was worth a try!!!!!
