tried it at the encore ....20 bucks...the lady took the 20 and slid it under the keyboard on the desk. i thought i was golden....then she offered me an upgrade for an extra 20 dollar charge per night....no complimentary uprgrade and she kept my 20. |

Actually this was at Encore. Gave $20 and told her that we had never stayed there before and wanted our room in a good location. Were upgraded to a panoramic view on the 62nd floor (out of 63 floors). Best $20 I ever spent. |

Did the trick exactly as described. Money was between the credit card and ID. Asked for a complementry upgrade. She palmed the money quickly and slipped it in her pocket and told me "I can absolutely help you with that." Got my key and went I got to the room, I realized it was the exact room I had booked (the basic room at The Wynn is still better than 90% of the rooms in Vegas). Oh well ... can't win them all |

Just learned of this trick - it worked wonders! Slipped in a $20 and asked them if they had any complimentary upgrades, the lady at the front desk gave us a suite with two queen beds!
At first I was skeptical, but when we got to our rooms, that $20 was well spent! |

Slipped the folded $20 between passport and credit card and said I'd be grateful if she could find us something nice like a panoramic room on a high floor. She laughed a bit - not sure if that was because she was nervous or whether she was lauging at me nervously trying the $20 trick for the first time! Anyway she did a search and found us a very nice room on a high floor with a great view. I'm not totally convinced I couldn't have got this by just asking nicely, but still we got a $20 dollar-a-night upgrade on a 7 night stay for just $20 - so I'm happy to have tried it! Will definitely try again and will hopefully be a bit more confident next time! |

Presented the sandwich at check in and asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available. Was momentarily taken aback when the clerk looked at the $20 and said "is this for me?" I replied "yes, for whatever you're able to do for us." She said "no, no, we're not allowed to take money...but let me see what I can do about an upgrade." She ended up upgrading us to a panoramic view room on one of the top floors, for free. |

Tried to do the $20 trick at Encore and clerk handed me back the $20 after I asked if there were any complimentary upgrades, told me it would not be necesary. She did upgrade my room at a cost of $20/night. Got a nice view of the strip on the 60th floor. Was suprised she did not take it,worked great for me at the Venetian last year |

Our reservation was made on Hotwire, so I wasn't sure if we would get anything. I handed the clerk my CC and DL along with $20 and told her that was for her. She said, "don't you think you should wait and see what I can do for you?" and handed it back to me. She asked what we wanted and I said, strip view, high floor, close to the elevator. She typed in her computer for a minute and offered up a panoramic (54th floor) corner suite. She apologized that it was not near the elevator, but the room had floor to ceiling windows on 2 walls... facing southeast and northwest. Great room! |

Went and got a couple of green chips in the casino before check-in. Desk was busy, and took about 15-20 to get to a clerk. When I got up there, I was rolling the chip around my hand, dangling it over the desk, etc. I asked if they had any complimentary upgrades as I handed her my license and credit card while flashing the chip. She said the upgrade to the panoramic suite was $20/night, and she would throw in some club passes as well. I dropped the chip on the monitor as I was leaving, and she said "sir, you dropped your chip." I told her it was for her, and she said "Oh, thanks!", so I have zero idea if she even recognized what I was doing or trying to do. There was also a supervisor-type character near the clerk, so perhaps this was an issue as well. All in all, I will try the physical 20 rather than a chip next time. |

She didn't even consider it. Saw the 20 bucks, and handed it right back to me and said no upgrades available. In fact, she said they didn't even have the room I booked (non-smoking, King Bed).
She did offer us a King bed with smoking on the top floor (which we took), but I believe that was only because there was nothing else available!

Ok so this is actually for TRUMP hotel but you guys don't have it in your list... so hopefully you update that.
Anyhow, I tipped the desk guy $20 and asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available. He looked for a second and asked if I wanted a bigger room or a better view. I went for the bigger room, then he also offered a late check out. The room was incredible, best room I ever stayed in before. I also want to note that I wasn't even paying full price to begin with for the standard room as I used Priceline to pick my own rate! Great experience, I will try this at every hotel I stay at in Vegas from now on. |

Spent 8 nights in late august. Split the time between Pallazzo and the Wynn. used $50 at both and it worked great. Booked cheapest rooms and was upgraded to view rooms valued at over $500.00 more. They both overlooking the strip with a 59th floor room at the Wynn, What a Great View!!!! |

On the poker rate. Standard $20 between card and ID + "any complimentary upgrades available?", she placed $20 on ledge above desk until we walked away, when she took it. We were upgraded to a salon suite, but unfortunately they only had smoking in king. The room was nice but I think the Augustus Suites at Caesar's are much nicer. |

Success--- I did the sandwich trick and it worked. I gave a fifty to a cute girl at the desk and she asked "is there anything special I can do for you". What service! I said "anything you can do would be greatly appreciated." When I got to my room, I couldn't believe it! The best fifty I have ever spent in Vegas! |

This is actually Planet Hollywood. I did not see the choice, figured you would look here if it was Wynn Hotel. Checked in Sunday at 800pm with wife. Not crowded, several people ahead, but moving quickly. Watched the desk clerks for the one that looked friendlier than others, spotted a dark haired 20-something girl being cheerful and outgoing. Did not want the 20-something guy with an attitude about him, just looked bad news. Just my luck, was next in line for the dark haired girl. Stepped up, said "great place here", she said thanks with a big ol' smile and said "welcome to PH"
Gave here my name, she asked for a crdit card and id, slid the $20 in between, enough of the 20 showing. She took all three and put them on here computer keyboard ledge. I said what is the possibility of a room upgrade. She said she would gladly check. She looked for a minute or two and said she could put us in a renovated Resort room on the 19th floor, which was an upgrade feom the deluxe, and we could have a strip view of the Bellagio fountains. I said thanks and that would be great. She then said she could only accept the $20 if I thought she was doing a good job not for the upgrade. I said she was doing a great job and it was my pleasure to tip her. She sent us off and it was a fantastic room and a great view! The trip began in a wonderful fashion and it was a very enjoyable trip! Thanks! |

We stayed on a Monday in July. Not only were we not given our upgrade, we weren't even given our booked room.
I had requested a king non-smoking well in advance. Our plane was delayed, so I called to let them know we would be checking in late (8pm), but were definitely arriving and still wanted the King N/S.
Now on a July Monday, we were given a smoking room. Not a single non-smoking room to be had - in the entire hotel! |
