| By: Dave Didn't expect an upgrade given the recent posts as well as it being Memorial Day weekend. Did the typical sandwich, made small talk, asked for the complimentary upgrade. The money was given back and was told I could upgrade for a price. I declined and ended up with a Carnival Tower room at the very end of the hallway that had a partial strip view of Mirage/TI. Nothing special, and probably will never say here again. | ||||||||||
| By: Courtney This did not work at the Flamingo. The gentleman at the desk was older, in his 60s, and took my $20. While the room did face Caesar's and was on a high floor, the room itself was awful. It was not one of the newer rooms, I never had housekeeping for the duration of my stay, and I had to beg for towels. Maybe the desk guy thought the view of a hotel I wasn't staying in was the upgrade? | ||||||||||
| By: Josh THIS IS FOR ----FLAMINGO---- I checked in around four the hotel was actually fairly well booked. I had reserved a King bed room...which they mentioned as we lined up for check in were very limited. I did the sandwich and was told no problem he was very pleasant and thanked me for the tip. This was for four nights. Not a Go room so I got a bigger room (as opposed to a nicer Go Room). Room was average a bit worn down. | ||||||||||
| By: Dee I handed $20 over and she made a call. She asked if she could use a promotion blah blah blah. This was my 3rd stay at Harrahs. The first time I got a standard double queen room. The second time I got a free upgrade to a petite suite (no $20 trick). Both rooms were pretty large. This time she claimed I got an uprade into the newer tower. Mardi Gras tower? Well guess what? It sucked. It was newer. I got a plasma TV instead of an old CRT, but the room was tiny as hell. Not really an upgrade in my opinion. Could've saved $20, but at least it worked kinda? | ||||||||||

| By: michelle I actually stayed at Flamingo, but there's not option for that one. Asked about upgrades while holding a 20 in my hand, was offered go room for 30 extra a night. I declined, and then he offered a premier suite on the 27th floor facing the beautiful pool. I didn't have to give him the twenty but i did, because i would have felt bad otherwise. | ||||||||||
| By: Steve Poborka When I handed the receptionist my ID and credit card I slipped the 20 dollar bill in with it and asked her if there were any complimentary upgrades, she handed the 20 back and said they are not allowed to do complementary upgrades. It didn’t seem to surprise her, so I think she has been in this position before and that management might be telling them that they are not allowed to give upgrades. | ||||||||||

| By: Ilona Tried this with a $50 at the Flamingo. It was my daughter's 21st bday and I wanted her to have a Go Room for three nights. Thought a $50 would seal the deal but ended up having to pay the $40 upgrade fee. And the clerk sucked that $50 right up. So dissapointed. That's why HET is losing my business. | ||||||||||
| By: Christopher OMalley Tried at first to ask for upgrade. Woman said there were none. Before even slipping the $20, shot the $hit w/ her and complemented her quick typing skills on the computer. I then asked if there were remodeled rooms in the hotel, to which she said yes but it would be two kings rather than the one queen my girl and i reserved. we happily said no problem. She said she would put us near the pool.. Turned out to be on the 3rd floor with a sliding glass door out to the pool and hot tubs and a private patio w/ 2 sun bed chairs . Room also had a 46" flat screen in main room and a smaller flat screen in bathroom along w/ granite. Just shows that being super nice to the person checking you in (and occasionally a $20) can get you a nicer room. By far my best upgrade yet. | ||||||||||
| By: PT Long story short, was upgraded from the Roman Tower to the Palace Tower at a minor additional cost. Was told that they no longer have the power to give free upgrades with out front desk supervisor approval (Need to platinum, 7 Diamond, etc). A new policy within the last couple weeks. May be BS but they would not budge this time. Last time it was a different story. Received the upgrade to Augustus. | ||||||||||
| By: dambrosini Note: at Flamingo, but since flamingo isn't on here and is a lot like Harrahs...We did the typical deal and he looked around and didn't give us anything. He said he got us a room closer to the elevator, but it really wasn't even too close. Was worth the try, but no success. | ||||||||||
| By: jon anderson Since the Sahara is not listed here, I just put it under Harrah's (same company). Put the $20 between CC and license, asked if there was any upgrades avail, and he said, "How about the Penthouse suite?". WOW! | ||||||||||
| By: SWL Checked in for two nights and requested a Suite upgrade. Receptionist had to get management approval, but upgraded us to an awesome three room suite, with a great view. | ||||||||||
| By: chris Booked a standard room. I went to the management desk, to the left of the main check in desk, spoke with a mgr, gave him the $20.00. We asked for a renovated room with flat screen tv's, he said he took care of it for us. we got to our room and had a great view of the parking garage and the room was not upgraded from what we could tell. | ||||||||||
| By: Sandie I had a new clerk. He didn't know what the $20 was for, and it was my first time trying it so it was all rather awkward. We were given the wrong room in the right tower (two queens instead of one king). When we requested the room that we reserved we got a room that was old, small, cramped and horrible. We won't stay there again. | ||||||||||
