Checked in on a busy Wednesday afternoon, long line, could not pick who I went to. Handed over $20, credit card, and ID. I was already booked at the north tower. I said I was there for a special occasion (which was true) and asked if there any complimentary upgrades available. I was upgraded to a giant 2 room suite. Comped the first night, half price the second. Friday I was supposed to change back to a standard room. I went back to check in, asked (different person)if I could keep my suite for that Friday, as I handed ID, room key and another $20. Some tying later got to keep my full suite, with an awesome view, for that Friday. |

Gave the gal behind the counter a $20... before I could say anything she started looking. Asked if I wanted smoking or non-smoking. I said smoking. 2 min later she smiled, gave me my key and sliped the 20 in her pocket. Our room was on the top floor and we loved it! |

we checked in at 1 o clock on a sunday and their was a big convention in town so we were a bit skeptical. there was a long line but we ended up with a guy about 26 years old. when i gave him my CC and ID with the twenty and asked about an upgrade he just slid the twenty back to me and said sorry nothing was available. then he waited a minute and said he can move us a up a few floors. i thanked him adn told him my wife and i were here fo rour anniversary and he smiled and said well ill upgrade you to the best view we have. the view was amazing we were on the 29th floor like 3 rooms from the end of the hall and the view was amazing. we were looking straight down the strip. the room had a couch, huge bed, huge flat screen tv, ipod dock, and a nice bathroom with double sicks and tube. |

Got a junior suite, which was bigger than the room we had ordered and had a wet bar as well as some other furniture and general niceties. Refrigerator was a huge plus. $20 well spent. |

My wife and I were just in Vegas for 4 nights with another couple,
We used the "20 dollar Trick" to get an upgrade, and wow what an upgrade. They gave us and executive suite with a joining grade suite in the top floor over looking the strip. He said it was a $600 a night upgrade from what we were suppose to get. We went with another couple and they used the 20 dollar trick at the same time. We went to the same front desk guy at the same time, handed him two sandwiches with a $20 in each. So it was 40 bucks. |

We gave the clerk (white guy, late 20's) the 20 dollars with the id and CC. Our room was already comped for 2 nights in the South Tower. He upgraded us to the North Tower, Diamond Floor. I needed a rollaway bed, regularly they cost $35 a night. He gave it to us for free. I would definitely do again. He was extremely grateful. |

Had a comped room in the Forum Towers, upon check in we asked the lady if any upgrades were available preferrably in the newer Augustus Tower. Gave her $20 with the visa card & was upgraded to a Deluxe Room in the Augustus Tower with a fantastic view of the Bellagio fountains & strip. 41st floor, room was spacious, bathroom extra large, comfy bed, and two tv's (one in bathroom). So for a 4 night stay it only costed us $20 for that simply fantastic room with an unforgettable view. Definately would recommend giving this a try---what do you have to lose? |

Arrived late Thursday night, noone else in line. Sandwiched the 20$ and asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available. She took the 20, went out back. Came back 2 mins later and said she would be able to help us out. I am not sure which tower we ended up in, but the room was definitely big and she said it was one of their "Premium Rooms". I forgot to say that I wanted North Tower(I had been drinking on the plane), so I dont know which tower we ended up in. At any rate, it worked and I will be doing it at all the Las Vegas hotels when I stay there again. |

The female hotel clerk was very sweet. At check-in, my daughter did the sandwich and asked if there were any complimentary upgrades. The clerk upgraded her for free to a mini-suite and did not charge for the daily rate for a refrigerator. |

Sandwiched the $20 between my passport and CC, leaving the corner of the bill peeking out from under the CC. The woman grinned, said she'd see what she could do. The view wasnt that great but the room was clean and nice, lots of granite, and chrome. Sure there's nicer hotels in Vegas but for less then #40/night? I think not. |

Had a standard room comped for 5 nights, so I figured I would give it a try. When the front desk clerk asked for my ID, I handed him a folded 20 behind it. As soon as he saw it, before I could even request a comp upgrade, he stated that I knew what I was doing and offered an upgrade to the 25th floor, for a room that was usually 20 more a night. |

This was actually for the Planet Hollywood - $20 offered and asked for an upgrade to a strip/fountain view room - there were two rooms in our group (on two separate reservations) and got both upgraded and also had all resort fees waved. Simple, effective. |

I was a bit nervous to try this and the fiance said I was going to get in trouble but I bit the bullet and tried it. I got a older man and gave him my id with a twenty under it and then mumbled something about comlimentary upgrades. He nodded and new exactly what was going on though he said I had booked a south tower room and he could put me in a north tower room which are newer. I said that would be great. I wish I hadn't asked for non smoking room I might off had more options. The room was nice though and I can tell they are an extra $20 a night so I saved at least $20 compared to booking that room online. |

Checked in late Friday night, tipped 50 because of the extra rooms. The desk clerk was very helpful and easily upgraded us to some very nice rooms. If you are staying at Ballys, you must try the tip. |

Ever since I stumbled onto this site I have been eager to try this. We ended up getting to Ballys just after midnight. I was hesitant at first hoping we could get an upgrade at this hour at night just before a weekend. I did the sandwich thing with a $50 in between my DL and CC and said it is my wifes birthday and would like a complimentry upgrade. The lady smiled and then grabbed a folder with picutres of rooms in it. She flipped through it and showed us the jacuzzi suite and of coarse we said YES! It was so awesome that it worked we almost couldn't believe it! Now we get this awesome room for 5 more nights for only $50!!! I guess its about a $500+ a night room. That is an awesome deal!!!! We will definately be doing this again!!! |

Booked a standard south tower room for 3 nights starting on Thursday. When I arrived I sandwiched a twenty between my id and credit card and asked if there were any upgrades available. The front desk clerk seemed extremely grateful and gave us an upgraded deluxe room in the north tower with a view of the Bellagio fountains. Will definitely try this trick again. |

Started with three nights in a standard South Tower room, one night for $70 and the other two comped. When I checked late on a Saturday night in I gave the $20 sandwiched with my ID and license, and asked if there was a something with more space available, since there were three of us. She gave us a complimentary upgrade to a suite. It's a sweet suite - 1400 sq ft! There's only one king bed, but a couple of sofas, chaise, and she even had two roll a way beds sent up free! The decor is dated, but everything is in good condition. This was the first time I tried the trick, but I'll do it every time from now on! |

We walked in as a group of 6 with 3 different rooms reserved. I wasn't sure how this would work, as 3 in a row were going to try the trick.
I went first, as my friends thought I was a little stupid for trying. I pulled out the sandwich and asked for any complimentary upgrades, He quickly put the 20 aside, and gave us a choice of the top of south tower, or north tower. I asked for something with a view and got put on the 21st floor of the north tower. Pretty nice room. My friends didn't ask for a nice view, and were put on the 15th floor of the North Tower. All 3 were successful. If I had to do it again, I would ask if there are any rooms with a jacuzzi in them. WOO |

Booked a classic room ( claridge tower) on line. Waitied in line with my samwedge, approached an attractive Ballys person. Smiled handed her my samwedge and politely asked if she could see if there were any complimentary upgrades in the Ballys Tower. She smile put the bill on the side and said " let me see what i can do" I said " thank you "

Tried the trick on a crowded weekend for staying three nights. The guy who checked me in spent a long time looking for an upgrade. Ended up in a really nice renovated room on a very high floor with a decent view of the Bellagio fountains.

Worked Perfectly!! Was staying for 5 nights and was not sure it would work since it included a weekend but figured I would give it a shot. Sandwiched the fifty and asked for a comp suite upgrade. Arrived about 9pm from airport after a liquor store run. Line was long, Avon convention at Bally's. Went up to clerk, female- Arabic- mid thirties. Pleasantries back and forth. Gave her cc/$20/id. She looked at it and I said-Any comps available? She said -Let me look. We can get you in an upgrade, but two days later-Tuesday-you'll have to check out into another room. No problem. Got the bellhop to take our suitcases up to the room. Got in and it was GREAT! Suite with full bar-three couches-table with 4 chairs-facing Paris tower-bedroom had sunken tub-two separate sinks-bidet-full shower. Tuesday go down-go over the same drill, cc/$20/id. New clerk says let me see. Comes back-You can stay there the next two days. I'll always go to Bally's! |

Had a comped standard room at Bally's. I was in line with the sandwich and the money exposed when one of the clerks made a motion to me to wait for her to help me. Since it was Labor Day weekend, I decided to try with $40 instead. I gave her the sandwich with the money exposed and asked for any upgrades. She worked her magic and was able to get me an 1,100 sqft suite in the South Tower! I also checked in for a friend and used another $40, and she upgraded them to a 1,400 sqft suite! |

Everyone thought I was so full of it and dumb for even trying it but it worked perfectly! Had a nice guy in his late 20's named Carlos check us in, just slipped him the sandwich and asked about upgrades and said "I hear your north tower rooms are nice...maybe something with a strip view". He immediately said he could upgrade us to the North tower at no charge and got us a great North Strip View on one of the top floors...totally worth it and can't wait to try it again somewhere else!!! |

Reserved the standard North Tower room on line. When I got there I noticed the parking garage sort of empty (good for me) so when I got to the front desk I provided my credit card and asked her if she was allowed to accept tips. She said yes. So I handed her a twenty and commented on any upgrades would be appreciated. She told me the parlor room was bigger, had a fridge, and top floor with view in the south tower. Normally this would cost $30 more a night, but she comped it for me. |

At first I was too chicken to try this. So I checked in and assumed the hotel would be full due to the holiday. I got my south tower room number and had to wait for it to be ready. An hour later I got tired of waiting and got the courage to try it. I went back through the line and set a $20 next to my original paperwork. He got me into a renovated north tower room immediately. He said it was a junior suite but I can't really tell. It just looks like a deluxe room. But either way, it's definitely worth the extra $20! |

My husband and I had booked a standard regular room in the south tower. we went with another couple who had booked the same thing. They checked in first and asked about complimentary upgrades without tipping/a $20 tucked in his license. They were upgraded to a King room in the North Tower on a lower level (10th or 11th floor) towards the rear of the hotel without much of a view. We checked in next with the $20 tucked under the license and asked about upgrades. We were given a front corner room right on the strip in the north tower with great views of Caesars, Flamingo, Wynn, IP, and the Hilton. The extra $20 was worth it! |

Had stayed at the Mirage for three nights and then headed over to Mandalay for four nights. Tried the twenty dollar sandwich at Mirage and it worked great. Tried at Mandalay and was told we don't do that here. When I was checking out at noon there were multiple people checking in and everyone was being upgraded to a Suite at the Hotel without asking. I thought you could not check in until late afternoon. Turns out checking in early maybe the key to get an upgrade as they don't have enough clean standard rooms. I will be going back in April 2010 and will check in at noon. I will also try the sandwich trick again. |

Had a standard room reserved via Orbitz, so it was prepaid. Handed the desk clerk a $20 sandwich and was upgraded to a Deluxe room that was had been renovated within the last few years. No crazy "Rain Man" suite, but a nice clean room. I don't stay here much, so it's hard to say whether the $20 was worth it or not; just view it as low-cost insurance for a good room. |

We got a Junior suite (bigger room with second vanity area) with a King size bed and a Strip view facing the north/west. We stayed for 8 days (some work, some vacation) so it was $20 well spent. |

Camme in before Memorial Day weekend, and had a thirty-dollar sandwich made. Came toa young woman, who promptly placed the tip on her keyboard. She set us up with a fine room, good view of the mountains and the Strip. Well done, and will use in the future at other hotels. |

checked in around noon at Flamingo for 5 night stay with another couple in 2 standard rooms.Handed a 20 to the clerk forgetting we had 2 rooms booked. Quickly slid him another twenty and 5 minutes later we're opening the door to 2 beautiful poolview suites. 2nd suite upgrade in 2 months. One more to go in July. |

Easy as pie. The suite wasn't ready when I checked in with twenty in my hand, he said if I waited a couple hours I could have a jr. suite. Ended up with a nice view of the eiffel tower/mgm grand. |

Not much of an upgrade I guess - at least we got moved up to a renovated room. What bummed me out is that we were given a king room for our first night (we checked in late - like midnight), and were told that the next night we'd be given a 2-bed suite on the Platinum floor. If a room halfway up the tower with 2 beds is a "suite on the Platinum floor", then that's what we got. I guess I still can't complain though - at least we didn't end up in the South Tower |

Quick 2 night visit to end our 2 week California vacation. Sandwiched $20 between d/l and amex. Clerk said he would see what he could do. 2 minutes later we were given keys to 10 floor North Tower jacuzzi suite. How sweet it was! |

We came in about about 10pm and were worried most of the good upgrades might be gone. Good thing for us that Vegas is really dead now... we had the choice of part of a suite or a large deluxe room in North Tower. You know the hotel room is nice if it has clean white sheets with a solid color bedspread :) I really liked the two sinks, one by the makeup counter, and all the granite in the bathroom :) |

This definitely worked. I gave the front desk clerk a $50 dollar bill along with my credit card and asked for a complementary upgrade. The desk clerk thanked me and said "I really appreciate this" .. and then he proceeded to click away to find us a room in the better tower. We were upgraded to a Diamond room. The room was large and nice, and certainly better than the classic rooms in the other tower where we have stayed before. Good luck! |

I held onto the $20 while asking for a free upgrade to a renovated room in the North tower ($20 was visible to the clerk) The clerk found a Deluxe room in the north tower for me, but I asked what else was available. I told her we were upgraded to a Petite Suite during our last stay and would love to get that type room again. She continued to look after telling her that the view was not that important but would be a nice bonus. After 5 minutes, she found us a petite suite (refrig, coffee maker in the wet bar area). Although I would of given the tip for the Deluxe room, I think holding onto the $20 helped getting the petite suite that I wanted. This was my second tip trick success at Bally's. |

Sandwiched the $20 between my i.d. and my credit card. Handed it to the staff member and asked very politely if our room could be upgraded. The check-in clerk spoke to her manager, came back and said Yes! We loved our room, it was spacious and clean. The jacuzzi was perfect after a long day of walking the strip! |

We arrived at 11:00 AM and I handed the clerk a sandwiched twenty and asked for a free upgrade. I was offered a couple options but went with the petite suite in the south tower with the jacuzzi. Great view of the eiffel tower, south strip, and bellagio fountains. I will definately try this again. |

First time in Vegas. Told the clerk so and stuck a $20 in my ID wallet and asked if she could upgrade me to the north tower. She thanked me sincerely for the tip and looked on the computer. After a couple mins she told me she could give me a complimentary upgrade. She thanked me again for the tip when I left. My room is large with a king bed, loveseat, desk, table and large bathroom. We actually stayed at Planet Hollywood, which for some reason, isn't listed here, but it worked like a charm. Slipped the clerk the 20 between id and cc, and she even showed us that it would normally be an 80 a night upgrade! Got to see the fountains at Bellagio every half an hour! Totally worth it, and the only gamble I won when we were there! |

Was At Bill's Gambling Hall and Casino, but there is no choice for that in the drop down.
I asked for a strip view room, which would have been a extra $20 a night, then tapped the Andrew Jackson on the counter, and was given a corner room that had the best view of the south strip in the hotel. Great view of the Bellagio fountains, and the Jublie marquee with that great bum staring at me in the window! |

Gave $40 with cc and id and asked for a comp upgrade. We were staying for 3 nights. The gentleman apologized for not being able to give us a suite (harrahs has tightened their policies he said) but could give us a deluxe room in the new tower on the floor reserved for diamond level players. |

I was a little nervous about this trick that I saw online but figured I would lose $20 just as fast in the slots. We stayed at Planet Hollywood Feb 2008. I asked the girl what my chances were for a free upgrade with my $20 in hand, very obvious. She said that they only had queen deluxe rooms but she might be able to get me in the renovated area. Then she asked for a credit card for incidentals and I handed her the $20 with my card. She seemed a little surprised but then said "wait let me see what else I can do". She then proceeded to show me she was moving me to a suite that was normally $80 a night extra. I told her she was very helpful. The room overlooked the strip and it was the coolest room we ever stayed in with 2 completely separate sinks and a soaking tub. The king size bed and flat screen tv were also wonderful additions, not that we were actually in the room that much it is Vegas after all. Definitely worth the extra $5 a night that it cost. |
